OpenAI announced ChatGPT Work on the 9th, evolving its conversational AI ChatGPT into a task-executing agentic AI. Powered by the advanced foundation model GPT-5.6, it can autonomously gather and analyze information across multiple applications, files, and workflows to create presentation materials, reports, and websites. Competitor Anthropic has already rolled out its agent Claude Cowork for enterprises, and earlier this year added task automation features for legal and sales functions, triggering a sharp sell-off in US and European software and professional services stocks. Microsoft, which backs OpenAI, has also introduced Copilot Cowork. ChatGPT Work began rolling out on the web and mobile on the 9th, initially available to Pro, Enterprise, and Edu users, with expansion to Plus and Business users to follow.
