Y Combinator co-founder Paul Graham said his wife Jessica’s first experience with Tesla’s Full Self-Driving technology was a “religious revelation,” praising the 23-year-old automaker for still generating that level of excitement. Tesla AI chief Ashok Elluswamy replied to Graham’s post with “Please let it be in the US,” where Tesla has its largest FSD market. Tesla ended the second quarter with about 1.5 million active FSD subscriptions, up 56% from a year earlier, and disclosed 1.48 million subscriptions, up from 1.28 million in the first quarter. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration continues to scrutinize the technology, upgrading an investigation in March covering about 3.2 million Teslas after identifying nine potentially related incidents, including one fatal crash and two injury crashes. Tesla is also seeking regulatory approval for FSD in Europe and China.
