PayPal is reportedly in discussions to sell itself to a buyer group that includes Stripe and private equity firm Advent International, according to the Wall Street Journal. Stripe and Advent had submitted a joint bid in July of $60.50 per share, valuing the payments company at about $53 billion, a steep decline from its peak valuation of almost $360 billion in 2021. Discussions have continued after the earlier deal did not proceed, and a fresh agreement could emerge in the coming weeks, though the value of any revised transaction has not been disclosed. PayPal shares rose nearly 1.8% following the report.
