Mr. Thanat Suwannanon, Director of the National Intelligence Agency and head of the peace dialogue panel for the southern border provinces, disclosed that the peace talks originally scheduled for September will be postponed indefinitely following violent incidents in Narathiwat province. He stated that the events were too severe to be acceptable, and although the talks had started well, this attack means they must begin anew. He also questioned the insurgent groups about the reasons for the attack but has yet to receive a response. Meanwhile, the Thai side has not coordinated with Malaysia, as it is known that Malaysia is changing its facilitator, creating a temporary vacuum. However, Mr. Thanat believes that the tough stance of the Thai security side is not an obstacle to the negotiations, because each side has its own approach but must move in the same direction. He stressed that dialogue is the long-term solution, as the Prime Minister has always signaled.
