Pennsylvania American Water is informing customers about new water and wastewater rates taking effect this week and an expanded customer assistance program. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission approved rates that will support $1.2 billion in planned infrastructure investment through mid-2027, including replacing 117 miles of aging water main and 32 miles of aging sewer main. The enhanced H2O Help to Others Program will increase monthly financial assistance from $25 to $40 and offer arrearage forgiveness over 24 months for eligible customers. Typical residential water customers will see an increase of about $3 per month, while sanitary wastewater customers will see about $14 and combined stormwater and wastewater customers about $17.
