Pfizer IncSigvotatug vedotin missed overall survival endpoint in Phase 3 lung cancer trial.

Pfizer reported that its late-stage lung cancer drug sigvotatug vedotin did not significantly improve overall survival in a pivotal Phase 3 trial. The trial compared sigvotatug vedotin to standard chemotherapy docetaxel in patients with metastatic non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer. The drug, part of the Seagen portfolio acquired for US$43 billion, showed a manageable safety profile and encouraging signals in a subset of patients, but the main efficacy goal was not met. Pfizer has been expanding in oncology through the Seagen acquisition and broader cancer drug development, and lung cancer remains one of the largest treatment areas worldwide. Investors may now focus on how the company reassesses sigvotatug vedotin, including any follow-up analyses on specific patient subgroups, and on the rest of Pfizer's oncology pipeline from the Seagen deal and other programs.
