Qualcomm IncorporatedPiper Sandler initiated Qualcomm at Neutral with a $190 price target, an analyst valuation call on the stock.

Piper Sandler analyst David O'Connor initiated coverage on Qualcomm with a Neutral rating and a $190.00 price target on September 9, arguing that the company's multi-year AI opportunity is attractive but largely reflected in its valuation. Qualcomm has targeted more than $15 billion of data center revenue by fiscal 2029, and Chief Financial Officer Akash Palkhiwala said the data center business will bring in $5 billion for fiscal 2027, with $1 billion of that coming from new custom-chip customers. Piper sees $15 of earnings power for fiscal 2029, expecting data center wins to drive a four-year EPS CAGR of 16%, and projects handsets could fall to roughly 50% of EBIT by fiscal 2029. The firm flagged High Bandwidth Compute as a major part of Qualcomm's strategy, but said more traction and industry acceptance is needed for the technology, and that design wins are already discounted in the share price. Hedge fund positioning showed 95 funds held the stock at the end of the second quarter, up from 71 in the prior quarter, with Marshall Wace holding about 2.48 million shares and Altimeter Capital roughly 1.88 million shares.
