Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul held talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji in Beijing to elevate the Thailand-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the 51st year of diplomatic relations. The discussions focused on advancing cooperation in trade and investment, infrastructure, security, future technologies, and combating transnational crime. The two sides signed 15 agreements and memoranda of understanding covering areas from artificial intelligence and nuclear fusion to the BeiDou satellite system and deep space exploration. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow disclosed that the leaders discussed systematic efforts to crack down on scammer networks and transnational crime, as well as issues concerning grey-area Chinese businesses in Thailand and pollution in the Kok River. Meanwhile, relevant agencies announced they will propose to the cabinet on 21 July 2026 to extend the deadline for lodging appeals on state welfare cards to 20 September 2026. The proposal also includes adjustments to criteria for vehicles older than 20 years, motorcycles older than 15 years, transferred vehicles, and non-formal students, aiming to ensure assistance truly reaches low-income earners. Currently, over 2.9 million people have applied for a review of their eligibility, and the Ministry of Finance is also preparing to propose the Thai Helps Thai Plus 60/40 programme to assist around 6 million existing recipients who may not meet the new criteria.
