Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has ordered the Ministry of Finance to urgently review the eligibility criteria for the 2026 State Welfare Registration Scheme, after more than 9.3 million people failed to qualify. He has tasked officials with taking public concerns and people's hardships as the main issues in adjusting the conditions to align with the current economic situation, and to propose the approach to the Cabinet meeting on 27 July 2026. Meanwhile, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the government aims to help low-income earners in a targeted and cost-effective manner, while extending the entitlement period to 30 September 2026, with all groups starting to use their benefits simultaneously from 1 October 2026.
