Popular Inc reported second-quarter 2026 net income of $278 million and earnings per share of $4.35, a 15% increase from the first quarter. The company announced a planned 20% increase in its quarterly dividend to $0.90 per share and a new $1 billion share repurchase authorization, with buybacks of $300 million to $400 million expected for the rest of the year. Loans held in portfolio grew by $460 million, driven by commercial, construction, and mortgage lending, while deposits increased by $2.6 billion, primarily from Puerto Rico public deposits. Net interest income rose by $23 million to $693 million, and the net interest margin was stable at 3.66% on a GAAP basis but expanded to 4.17% on a taxable equivalent basis. Non-performing loans decreased by $45 million to $413 million, and the Common Equity Tier 1 ratio increased to 16.1%.
