The April Case-Shiller 20-city home price index rose 1.1% month over month, up from an upwardly revised 0.9% in March, led by Chicago at 6.5%, New York City at 3.8%, and Cleveland at 3.2%, while Seattle fell 2.3%. The May JOLTS report, the first of Jobs Week, is expected to show 7.3 million job openings, down from 7.6 million the prior month, with the quits rate remaining low at 3.0 million in the last report. Later in the week, ADP private-sector payrolls are forecast to drop to 110,000 new jobs from 122,000, and the Employment Situation report is expected to slide to 118,000 from 172,000. June Consumer Confidence from the Conference Board is anticipated to edge up to 94.6 from 93.1, though it remains near 10-year lows excluding the Covid period, while the Present Situation index dipped 2.8 points in May to 1.4%.
