Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met with Mr. Zhao Leji, Chairman of the National People's Congress of China, in Beijing on July 20, 2026. Both sides affirmed the continuation of Thai-Chinese friendship in the 51st year of diplomatic relations and pushed for cooperation in new fields such as artificial intelligence, digital technology, space, electric vehicles, and sustainable environmental conservation. The Prime Minister stated that Thailand and China will drive cooperation in four key areas: politics and security, economy and investment, people-to-people relations, and regional cooperation. He also supported increased legislative exchanges between the parliaments of both countries and invited the Chairman of the National People's Congress of China to visit Thailand, which if realized would be the first such visit in 15 years. The Chairman of the National People's Congress of China expressed pleasure at the success of the Prime Minister's first official visit to China and readiness to support Thailand in modern agendas, especially artificial intelligence, digital technology, space, health, environment, and clean energy, as well as close cooperation in international forums.
