Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the Russian military to halt attacks on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, for three days. The move is timed to coincide with visits by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and subsequently to Kyiv. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the development to Interfax news agency. According to Peskov, the temporary ceasefire began at midnight local time on the 5th. Witkoff and Kushner are scheduled to arrive in Moscow on the 5th to discuss a new peace proposal with President Putin, after which they are expected to travel to Kyiv.
