Quantum X Labs has demonstrated its first fully all-optical Hemispherical Resonator Gyroscope in its laboratory. The system uses optical excitation and optical readout instead of conventional electrostatic actuation and sensing, removing electrode structures from the resonator design. This architecture is intended to reduce reliance on electrode-based components, offering simpler resonator architecture, fewer potential failure points, intrinsic electrical isolation, and reduced sources of noise and drift. The demonstration supports continued development of optical inertial sensing systems for potential deployment in aerospace, defense, autonomous transportation, and navigation applications. Quantum X Labs plans to refine the technology through performance optimization, system integration, and evaluation of potential collaborations, with a development path toward deployable inertial measurement units.
