RBC analyst Trung Huynh declared Eli Lilly the clear winner of the American Diabetes Association's annual Scientific Sessions meeting after the company unveiled positive data on its weight-loss and diabetes treatments. Eli Lilly presented promising results for its investigational drug retatrutide in knee osteoarthritis pain and sleep apnea, as well as significant weight loss with its pill Foundayo in women at all menopause stages. Huynh noted that the field is getting more crowded but Lilly is widening its lead, while Novo Nordisk's chief science officer Martin Holst Lange argued that factors like tolerability and effectiveness against comorbidities will also drive demand, and that the jury is still out on comparisons between retatrutide and Novo's CagriSema. Despite Novo Nordisk's announcement that U.S. prescriptions for its Wegovy pill hit 3 million, the company reported negative adjusted sales growth last quarter, and its stock trades at 13.6 times forward earnings compared to Eli Lilly's 30 times.
