Acquisition of Pictorus enhances Renesas' embedded software development platform.
Renesas Electronics Corporation has completed the acquisition of Oakland-based software developer Pictorus through a subsidiary. The deal brings a cloud-based behavioral modeling platform that accelerates embedded system development and will be integrated into Renesas 365, the company's newly released unified electronics system development platform. Engineers will be able to visually design system behavior by drawing block diagrams in a web browser, with Pictorus automatically converting those diagrams into executable embedded software in Rust, with C/C++ and Python interoperability. The acquisition advances Renesas' digitalization vision of making electronics design more accessible and creating an Electronics System Design & Lifecycle Management Platform together with Altium.
