Revenue Department beats tax target with 2.5 trillion baht, brings 56,000 online vendors into the system

The Revenue Department reported that it collected 2.16 trillion baht in tax over the past 11 months, equal to 88.35% of its full-year target, and is confident that full-year collections will exceed 2.5 trillion baht, coming in 40 to 50 billion baht above target. Director-General Somsak Anantawathana said the main reason was the surge in global energy prices, with actual oil prices rising to 100 dollars per barrel from an assumed 63 dollars per barrel, driving a large increase in value-added tax on imports. Corporate income tax also rose in line with the actual profits of listed companies, especially in the energy sector. The department also expanded its taxpayer base by 170,000 new filers, exceeding its target, including 56,000 online vendors without physical storefronts. On the regulation of donations, the department has stipulated that donations to temples or foundations must be made through the e-Donation system only in order to qualify for tax deductions, with full enforcement starting on January 1, 2026. More than 46,000 temples and religious sites have now registered. Donations through e-Donation totaled 34 billion baht last year, while the figure for the first 11 months of this year stands at 23 billion baht.
