Rigetti Computing IncLeadership restructuring and focus on future processors may signal operational challenges, causing shares to dip.

Rigetti Computing shares dipped 5% Thursday after the quantum computing company reorganized its leadership structure around customer deployments and processor development. David Rivas, previously chief technology officer, is moving into the chief operating officer role, with responsibilities including systems delivery, fabrication operations, software, supply chain and government programs. Andrew Bestwick, who had led Rigetti's Quantum Systems group, is taking over as CTO, focusing on hardware engineering, chip fabrication and development of the company's quantum processors. The restructuring creates a dedicated Systems Delivery organization intended to separate customer installation work from the engineering roadmap, allowing technical teams to concentrate more heavily on future processor platforms, including its Novera and Cepheus architectures. Rigetti recently reported $5.1 million of second-quarter revenue and held $541.3 million in cash, cash equivalents and available-for-sale investments at June 30.
