Samsara Guides Thinner Cash Margin, Higher Operating Margin for Fiscal 2027

Samsara now expects a thinner free cash flow margin and a fatter operating margin for fiscal 2027, as the company pays upfront for the IoT hardware that carries its AI subscriptions. The CFO said Samsara buys the devices upfront while revenue comes back ratably over the customer contract, and the company cited the IoT devices that faster growth needs, inventory it is prebuying as a buffer, and higher supply chain costs in the second half of fiscal 2027. Free cash flow margin is guided about 100 basis points below fiscal 2026, which on the $2.04 billion of revenue guided for fiscal 2027 works out to roughly $20 million, while the non-GAAP operating margin guide rose to 21% from 20%. More than 20% of Samsara's net new contract value came from emerging products in each of the last three quarters, and deals with a top-five U.S. city included more than $2 million of emerging products in fiscal Q2 2027. Samsara crossed $2.1 billion in annual recurring revenue in fiscal Q2 2027, up 30% over the past year, and raised its fiscal 2027 revenue, growth, operating margin and earnings guides at one release.

NHTSA Opens Safety Probe Into Tesla's Driverless Cybercab

NHTSA has opened an investigation into Tesla's Cybercab after the company began offering rides in Austin, Texas, according to reports from WSJ and Reuters on September 4. The agency will examine the technical data and methodology Tesla used to self-certify the two-seat vehicle, which lacks a steering wheel, pedals, accelerator, and mirrors, and will assess whether Tesla correctly determined that certain federal safety standards do not apply to it. Tesla has not sought an exemption for the Cybercab, unlike Amazon's Zoox, which received an exemption in July for its steering-wheel-free robotaxis. NHTSA could require recalls or impose fines if it finds the Cybercab noncompliant. Tesla had 420 autonomous vehicles registered in Texas as of Friday, including 45 Cybercabs, as it begins expanding the robotaxi service.

MemryX and Lenovo Sign MOU to Expand Sovereign Edge AI in Saudi Arabia

MemryX has signed a memorandum of understanding with Lenovo to expand the deployment of sovereign edge AI solutions across Saudi Arabia. The agreement builds on joint platform deployments already operating in the Kingdom and establishes a framework for the two companies to pursue additional opportunities across infrastructure, industrial operations, smart cities and video management, supporting Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. The joint platform combines the Lenovo ThinkEdge SE455 V3 rugged edge server with the MemryX Cascade 100P AI accelerator to process video and sensor data on site, reducing latency and limiting reliance on centralized, power- and cooling-intensive AI infrastructure. The platform is already operating in large-scale infrastructure programs in Saudi Arabia, with one deployment delivering real-time construction safety analytics including personal protective equipment compliance and site safety event detection, and a second running compliance and site-monitoring workloads in a port environment across the operator's existing camera infrastructure. Under the MOU, Lenovo and MemryX will expand customer deployments in Saudi Arabia, validate the platform through a Lenovo Center of Excellence, develop additional solutions through Lenovo AI Innovation, and explore rack-scale server configurations for computer vision inference, supporting potential regional and global go-to-market opportunities.
