Roche Holding AGRoche launched the first fully automated high-throughput HDV test, addressing an unmet need and strengthening its diagnostics portfolio.
Roche Holding has introduced the cobas HDV test, the first fully automated, high-throughput assay for Hepatitis D Virus detection. The test targets a major unmet clinical need for improved diagnosis and monitoring of the most aggressive form of viral hepatitis, and is designed to support laboratories as new HDV treatments become available. It runs on existing cobas 5800, 6800, and 8800 systems, allowing labs to add HDV testing without major new capital spending. An estimated 12 million people globally have HDV, and the launch may strengthen Roche's installed-base relevance against diagnostics competitors such as Abbott and Siemens Healthineers. Investors will watch adoption rates, reimbursement decisions, and future disclosures on hepatitis assay contributions within Roche's virology portfolio.
