Thales S.A.Romania signs deal to buy twelve Thales GM200 MM/A radars, funded by EU, with first delivery in 2027.

Romania has signed a government-to-government agreement with France to acquire twelve Thales Ground Master 200 Multi-Mission All-in-one radars, funded under the European Union's SAFE programme. The deal, signed between the Romanian General Directorate for Armaments and France's Direction Générale de l'Armement, aims to strengthen Romania's airspace protection and NATO's eastern flank. The first delivery is expected in 2027. The GM200 MM/A is a medium-range 4D AESA radar capable of detecting targets up to 350 kilometres away, and its all-in-one design allows deployment in under 15 minutes. Thales, which already employs over 850 people in Romania, will establish a Radar Competence Centre to support local industrial capacity.
