Salesforce.com IncSalesforce acquires Fin for $3.6B, a strategic M&A deal to gain AI pricing expertise.

Salesforce announced a $3.6 billion acquisition of customer service software company Fin, formerly known as Intercom. Fin has already transitioned to an outcome-based pricing model where customers pay only for fully automated resolutions, and its agentic annual recurring revenue reached around $100 million growing at 350%, with total ARR of about $400 million including legacy software. Fin also developed its own proprietary AI model, Apex 1.0, which it claims is the highest-performing customer service model on the market. Salesforce, whose shares have fallen 42% this year to trade at about 10 times adjusted earnings guidance, sees the deal as a way to bring in a team that has already made the pivot from subscription-based to agentic AI software, potentially helping Salesforce navigate the same transition across its enterprise.
