Samsung Electronics Co LtdApproved record shareholder return of up to $80B, boosting shareholder value.
Samsung Electronics has approved a 2026 shareholder return plan of approximately KRW 90 trillion to KRW 110 trillion, or $65.1 billion to $79.52 billion, following rival SK Hynix's KRW 40 trillion share buyback plan announced earlier this week. Samsung said the plan is expected to be the largest shareholder return by a Korean company, roughly five times its own previous record of KRW 20.3 trillion set in 2020, and would bring total shareholder returns for 2024 through 2026 to KRW 120 trillion to KRW 140 trillion. The firm plans to distribute about KRW 30 trillion in cash dividends in the third quarter, including regular dividends, with the remaining 2026 shareholder returns to be determined in January 2027 and potentially including cash dividends and share buybacks or cancellations. The company also approved a separate KRW 15 trillion share buyback for employee compensation.
