Samsung Electronics has reportedly achieved about 80% production yield for its HBM4 high-bandwidth memory, months ahead of its year-end target. The yield has climbed from below 60% when mass production began in February, according to Seoul Economic Daily, reflecting advances in packaging and higher underlying DRAM yields. Samsung plans to more than triple HBM4 revenue in the third quarter, with HBM4 representing more than 60% of HBM sales in the second half, and is targeting roughly 38% HBM market share by year-end. The improvement could strengthen Samsung's position in the AI-memory market and expand supply for Nvidia's next-generation Vera Rubin platform, which uses HBM4. Micron began volume shipments of HBM4 for Vera Rubin earlier this year, while SK hynix is also supplying HBM4 into Nvidia's ecosystem.
