Samsung Electronics Co LtdBuilding new fab and expanding capacity to address memory chip shortage and meet customer demand.

Samsung Electronics will begin construction of its second semiconductor plant, Taylor Fab 2, in Taylor, Texas, United States, late this year, targeting mass production in 2030. Meanwhile, construction of Taylor Fab 1 is progressing as planned and is expected to start operations within this year, with plans to gradually expand chip production capacity using 2-nanometer process technology. The company is also considering increasing capacity for 1.4-nanometer process technology due to growing customer inquiries, and is expanding long-term chip supply agreements with major data center and artificial intelligence customers to cope with a potentially prolonged memory chip shortage.
