SCB EIC has revised up its forecast for Thailand's economy in 2026 to 2.2% growth, from 2.0% previously, and to 2.1% in 2027, from 1.9%, supported by private investment and exports in digital and electronics sectors amid the global AI cycle. However, it warns that the benefits remain concentrated and reliant on high imports. It expects the Monetary Policy Committee to hold the policy rate at 1% throughout the year, while monitoring the Middle East conflict, US tariffs, and elevated long-term interest rates.
