Micron Technology IncReports strong fiscal Q3 revenue and gross margin, but also notes take-or-pay agreements cover only 20% of DRAM volume, leaving pricing exposure.
Ajit Manocha, president and CEO of SEMI, told Bloomberg at Semicon Taiwan that after four decades in the industry, he sees a super cycle that only goes up, with semiconductor industry revenue reaching $1.8 trillion or $2 trillion, driven by AI this decade and quantum next. He noted that every memory company is aggressively adding capacity, a pattern that has historically ended memory cycles. Micron Technology reported fiscal Q3 revenue of $41.46 billion, up 345.72% year over year, with a GAAP gross margin of 84.6%, and its shares have risen 708.26% over the past year to $956.08. However, Micron's 16 take-or-pay Strategic Customer Agreements cover only about 20% of its DRAM volume, leaving non-HBM pricing exposed when its Idaho fab begins output in mid-2027. Applied Materials has fallen 15.3% over the past month despite accelerating revenue growth, while NVIDIA anchors demand with $89 billion in data center revenue.
