Shell plc has commenced a share buyback programme with an aggregate contract term of approximately three months. The programme will execute $3.000 billion of new share buybacks plus $1.232 billion of buybacks that were not undertaken during a previous programme due to a suspension related to the acquisition of ARC Resources Ltd. The purpose is to reduce issued share capital, and all repurchased shares will be cancelled. The company has entered into two non-discretionary contracts with a single broker: a London contract with a maximum consideration of $2.821 billion and a Netherlands contract with a maximum consideration of $1.411 billion. The maximum number of ordinary shares that may be purchased under the programme is 565,550,000, and the programme is intended to be completed before Shell's Q3 2026 results announcement.
