Summary · why it matters

Shell has unveiled its Triple 10 Challenge concept car, a proof-of-concept electric vehicle that charges from 10% to 80% in under 10 minutes using a standard 175kW charger. The compact EV achieves 10 km/kWh driving economy and an estimated lifecycle carbon footprint of approximately 10 tonnes CO2e, enabled by Shell Recharge thermal fluid that provides direct immersion cooling of the battery and powertrain. This single-circuit cooling architecture eliminates the need for large, heavy batteries, contributing to about a 25% reduction in overall battery pack cost compared to a conventional EV. Shell also announced the integration of its full EV capabilities under the Shell Recharge brand, retiring the Shell EV-Plus brand. The concept car was co-engineered with partners including RML, Empel Systems, and HORIBA MIRA.
