Shopify IncAI-referred traffic and orders tripled, driving revenue and operating income growth.

Shopify reported that AI-referred traffic to its merchants' storefronts tripled year over year in the second quarter, defying fears that AI shopping agents would cut the platform out of transactions. Orders that began with an AI search also tripled, and new buyers arriving through AI channels placed orders at nearly twice the rate of other channels. The company said half of AI-referred sessions land directly on a product page, and 75% of AI-attributed purchases came from outside the top 100 product categories, reaching niche merchants. Revenue rose 34% to $3.6 billion, gross merchandise volume reached $115.6 billion, and operating income climbed 68% to $488 million. Shares jumped about 17% to around $144 following the report.
