Beijing Shougang Co LtdCompany states long-term high growth for grain-oriented silicon steel, driven by power industry upgrades and new quality productive forces.

Shougang stated during a conference call on July 8 that market demand for grain-oriented silicon steel will maintain relatively high growth for a considerable period. In recent years, domestic grain-oriented silicon steel production capacity has expanded rapidly, and overall capacity is expected to keep growing in 2026, with both supply and demand increasing. The development of the power industry will drive product upgrades toward higher efficiency, higher-end applications, and greener solutions. For non-oriented silicon steel, total domestic demand in 2026 is projected at around 15 million tonnes, with significant growth in new quality productive forces such as new energy vehicles, humanoid robots, and the low-altitude economy. However, the oversupply situation remains unchanged, and the mismatch in supply and demand structures may accelerate the elimination of outdated capacity.
