A new survey commissioned by Siemens Healthineers and conducted by YouGov finds that 82% of U.S. healthcare executives considered expanding their laboratory services in the past year, and 54% are prioritizing diagnostic and lab equipment upgrades, second only to AI tools. The findings, released at the ADLM 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting, show that 81% of the 155 surveyed executives strongly agree lab turnaround times directly affect patient care, and 72% strongly agree lab performance is critical to wider organizational efficiency. However, the survey also reveals that 31% of executives whose lab investment considerations stalled cited uncertainty about the cost-benefit proposition as the primary reason, highlighting an opportunity to make clearer business cases for laboratory modernization.
