SK Hynix IncCEO expects memory chip shortage to last until at least 2030, supporting continued high profits.
SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-Jung expects the memory chip shortage that has driven record profits to continue until at least 2030. The company's stock has surged roughly 500% over the past year, pushing its valuation to nearly $1 trillion. However, analysts caution that earnings may peak by 2027 or 2028 as rivals Samsung and Micron ramp up capacity, and price increases are already slowing, with TrendForce estimating third-quarter DRAM pricing will rise only 13% to 18% after a 60% jump in the second quarter. The stock currently trades at about 6 times earnings, and without a new demand catalyst, a repeat of last year's gains is unlikely.
