SK Hynix IncSK Hynix plans a large ADR offering, raising up to $26 billion, which provides capital and increases US market access.

SK Hynix is expected to submit a statement to South Korea's financial regulator for an offering of American Depositary Receipts, according to Korea Economic Daily. The filing would be the next step toward bringing the chipmaker to the US market, with earlier reports indicating the ADR sale could raise up to $10 billion, though the final size is yet to be determined. Based on SK Hynix's market value following its massive rally, industry estimates put the size of the offering at as much as 40 trillion won, or $26 billion, which would be comparable with Alibaba Group Holding's 2014 offering, the biggest ever at the time. The company plans to issue shares in South Korea and deposit them with the Korea Securities Depository as the underlying securities for ADRs, and the watchdog's review could be completed by July 3, raising expectations that trading may begin as early as next month. SK Hynix first disclosed its ADR listing plans in March, aiming for a New York offering in the second half of the year, and the offering is expected to rank among the largest overseas equity raises by a South Korean company.
