SK Hynix IncRaised $26.5B via US ADR listing to expand capacity
SK Hynix raised 26.5 billion dollars through an ADR listing in the United States, and will use the funds to expand semiconductor manufacturing capacity. In an interview with Bloomberg, CEO Kwak Noh-Jung said the AI boom is prolonging the memory shortage, and supply constraints could persist beyond 2030. Customers are increasingly seeking long-term supply agreements, and SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won also expressed confidence that supply cannot keep up with growing demand. Both executives stressed that AI has fundamentally altered the industry's cyclical ups and downs, with Chairman Chey stating it is no longer a cyclical business. Meanwhile, prominent investors such as Michael Burry and Ray Dalio have warned of an AI bubble collapse, but for now SK Hynix, Samsung Electronics, and Micron Technology are benefiting from expanding AI investments and remain strong.
