SoftBank Group plans to raise 1 trillion yen via retail bonds, the largest ever, to redeem existing bonds and fund AI investments.
It was revealed on the 20th that SoftBank Group is preparing to issue retail bonds. The amount to be raised is around 1 trillion yen, which would be the largest retail bond issuance by a Japanese company. The proceeds are expected to be used for redeeming existing bonds and for AI-related investments, and this would be the company's third retail bond issuance this year. The previous record was the 600 billion yen in retail bonds issued by SoftBank Group in 2025, and this would far exceed that. The bonds will have a seven-year maturity, with the interest rate and other terms to be decided in early September.
