Space Exploration Technologies Corp. Class A Common StockLockup expirations will increase public float, potentially diluting share value and creating selling pressure.

SpaceX’s publicly traded share count could rise sharply by October 31 as staggered lockup periods begin to expire. The company’s IPO was heavily oversubscribed, with demand reportedly four times higher than supply on the listing date, partly because less than 5% of shares were made available for public trading. Lockup restrictions will ease in phases, with some shares unlocking after 70 days and others after 90 days, while larger releases are tied to second-quarter and third-quarter earnings. By the end of October, roughly one-third of all shares are expected to be unlocked, doubling the current public float. The biggest single unlock arrives in June 2027, when Elon Musk becomes eligible to sell his 42% stake.
