SpaceX becomes publicly traded, enabling ETF inclusion and retail investor access

SpaceX has officially become a publicly traded stock, allowing retail investors direct access for the first time. While the S&P 500 will not include SpaceX until at least June 2027 due to a 12-month waiting period, other indexes have shorter timelines. The Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF, tracking the CRSP US Total Market Index, can add new IPOs after the fifth trading day, and the Invesco QQQ ETF, tracking the Nasdaq-100, has a 15-trading-day waiting period. Both ETFs are expected to give SpaceX a weighting of around 3%, offering meaningful exposure while mitigating downside risk.
