Today, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and the CP Group are scheduled to negotiate on issues regarding train operations and the reduction of work scope, following Asia Era One Co., Ltd., a CP Group subsidiary, sending a letter confirming its request to cancel the contract for the high-speed rail project linking three airports (Don Mueang-Suvarnabhumi-U-Tapao), as well as requesting the termination of the agreement for the management and operation of the Airport Rail Link (ARL), whose operating contract is set to expire on September 30. Previously, SRT had asked CP to withdraw its cancellation letter, but CP sent a new letter to reaffirm its stance. Meanwhile, Deputy Transport Minister Siripong Angkasakulkiat stated that the government will try every means to serve the public interest, but if negotiations fail, the matter will proceed through legal and civil processes to determine liability for damages. The outcome of the negotiations will be presented to the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Policy Committee.
