Starbucks CorporationCEO announces plans to double international store count, including expansion in China and U.S., indicating strong end-customer demand growth

Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol said the company could double its international store count, with plans to expand from 8,000 to 20,000 locations in China alone. Speaking at the Evercore Consumer and Retail Conference, Niccol also noted an additional 10,000 stores could open in the U.S., focusing on underpenetrated areas. The company currently operates more than 40,000 stores globally, with over 22,000 outside the U.S. and Canada. The expansion plans come as Niccol's turnaround strategy shows early results, with second-quarter revenue rising 9% year over year to $9.5 billion and earnings up 14.5% to $0.50 per share.
