Meta Platforms Inc.Meta Platforms surged over 11% after announcing plans for a cloud infrastructure business.
US stocks were mixed on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 down 0.08%, the Dow up 0.24%, and the Nasdaq 100 down 0.97%, as a pullback in chipmakers and AI stocks weighed on the market. Weaker-than-expected economic data, including a smaller rise in ADP employment and a larger drop in the ISM manufacturing index, also pressured stocks, but easing factory price pressures and a rally in software shares helped indexes recover from session lows. The ISM prices paid sub-index fell to a four-month low of 73.0, and Fed Chair Warsh noted that price risks have diminished. In corporate news, Meta Platforms surged over 11% after announcing plans for a cloud infrastructure business, while SanDisk and KLA Corp each fell more than 9%.
