Akeso IncPositive overall survival data for ivonescimab in Phase III HARMONi-2 study strengthens its case as a lung cancer treatment.

Summit Therapeutics said Wednesday that partner Akeso reported positive overall survival results for ivonescimab in the Phase III HARMONi-2 study, showing a statistically significant improvement in overall survival compared with pembrolizumab in patients with PD-L1-positive advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer. The drug had previously demonstrated a significant progression-free survival benefit with a 0.51 hazard ratio in the primary analysis. These results strengthen the case for ivonescimab as a potential treatment option in lung cancer, although the study was conducted in China and sponsored by Akeso. Following the news, Summit Therapeutics shares traded about 3% higher at roughly $15.04 in after-hours trading.
