Summary · why it matters
Swiss agrochemical and seed giant Syngenta Group has confidentially filed for an initial public offering in Hong Kong and is aiming to raise at least $5 billion, according to three people familiar with the matter. Syngenta, a unit of Chinese state-owned China National Chemical Corporation, or ChemChina, hopes to launch the IPO as early as the end of this year or early 2027. Depending on market reception, the offering could raise as much as $10 billion, one of the sources said, which according to LSEG data would make it the largest IPO in Hong Kong since 2010. Syngenta told Reuters it does not comment on market speculation, while ChemChina did not respond to a request for comment.
