T-Mobile US IncNew financing plans and plans may attract customers but expected churn increase creates mixed impact.
T-Mobile has announced its 'Nothing' initiative, which is a new way for new and existing customers to pay $0 upfront for a new phone. The carrier is updating its equipment installment plans to offer 36-month financing instead of the previous standard 24 months, introducing EIP Flex 36 and EIP Standard 36 options. EIP Flex 36 allows customers to finance the device, taxes, and fees over 36 months with 0% APR for a limited time. T-Mobile also launched new wireless plans, including Essentials 2.0 and Experience 2.0, and student perks with a $30 monthly line. The changes come as the company moves away from device subsidies and expects a temporary increase in customer churn in the third quarter.
