Tesla IncTesla begins Megapack 3 production at new Texas Megafactory, expanding grid-battery capacity.

Tesla has begun producing Megapack 3 batteries at its new Brookshire, Texas, Megafactory, CEO Elon Musk announced on X. The facility, which broke ground 16 months ago, is designed to produce 50 gigawatt-hours of Megapack 3 capacity annually and expands Tesla's grid-battery footprint beyond its existing Megafactories in Lathrop, California, and Shanghai. Under a Waller County tax-abatement agreement, Tesla committed about $44 million for building improvements and $150 million for manufacturing equipment, with the factory eventually creating about 1,500 jobs. The ramp-up comes as Tesla's energy storage deployments grew roughly 41% to a record 13.5 gigawatt-hours in the second quarter, outpacing the 25% increase in vehicle deliveries, while the energy segment posted a 20.4% gross margin above the automotive business's 16.9%.
