Guangzhou border inspection authorities said that since the start of the 2026 summer travel season through August 15, ports under their jurisdiction had handled more than 2.8 million entry-exit passengers, up 15 percent year on year. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently issued the 15th Five-Year Plan for building China into a tourism powerhouse, proposing that by 2030 domestic residents will make 8.3 billion trips, domestic tourism spending will reach 7.7 trillion yuan, and inbound tourism will reach 190 million visits with total spending exceeding 150 billion US dollars. BOC International believes that multiple factors are combining, including delayed demand release caused by high summer temperatures, lower fuel surcharges, and the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday window, and this year's twin holidays are expected to fully stimulate residents' willingness to travel.
