Three of the top five performers in the S&P 500 during the first half of the year are companies that provide memory and storage for artificial intelligence, not GPUs. Sandisk Corp., Micron Technology, and Western Digital posted the first, second, and fifth largest gains, respectively, in the index. Sandisk's data center revenue surged more than 640% year-over-year to $1.4 billion in its latest quarter, while Micron's data center revenue jumped over 650% to $11 billion. Western Digital reported a 45% increase in total revenue to more than $3 billion. The companies are benefiting from the growing need for memory and storage as AI moves into inference and real-world applications.
