TotalEnergies SETotalEnergies launches MethaneLive, a real-time methane monitoring center using advanced sensors and AI, enhancing emissions detection and repair.

TotalEnergies has launched MethaneLive, a new global methane emissions monitoring center that uses real-time data and advanced algorithms to detect, measure, and analyze emissions. The center leverages data from 13,000 sensors deployed across all of the company's operated onshore and offshore Upstream sites, a system TotalEnergies says is the only one of its kind in the industry. Since its launch in early 2026, MethaneLive has detected 35 fugitive methane emissions and enabled their correction through targeted maintenance. The company is now deploying agentic AI solutions to better target high-emitting equipment and improve fugitive emission detection. TotalEnergies aims for near-zero methane emissions at its operated Upstream sites by 2030.
