Trump confirms $5,000 'Trump dividend' if Republicans win midterms

President Donald Trump confirmed in a post on Truth Social that every American adult will receive $5,000, or about 165,000 baht, to be called the "Trump dividend," if voters hand Republicans victory in the midterm elections on November 3 and keep the party in control of the Senate and the House of Representatives. Reuters reported that the U.S. Census Bureau estimates there are about 240 million American adults, meaning the government would need to spend roughly $1.2 trillion, or about 39.64 trillion baht, in total. Vice President JD Vance said the government could use tariff revenue to pay for the payments. The Congressional Budget Office estimates the government has already collected $167 billion in tariff revenue in the current fiscal year, which ends on September 30, but that is still not enough to cover the $1.2 trillion cost of the program. The current budget deficit stands at $2.1 trillion, and the program would require congressional approval before it could proceed.
