NVIDIA CorporationTSMC's record sales validate AI accelerator demand for Nvidia, but the 2027 price-hike talk pressures chip stocks.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company reported August revenue of NT$514.81 billion, up 53.3% year over year and 10.1% from July, with first-eight-month 2026 revenue climbing 39.3% to NT$3.39 trillion. The record sales validate continued AI accelerator demand for customers such as Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom, but also highlight TSMC's growing pricing power over those same customers. Barron's noted that concerns over TSMC's reported plans to raise chipmaking prices by as much as 10% in 2027 added pressure to semiconductor shares despite the record sales. Hedge funds added to both sides in the second quarter, with 249 funds holding TSM, up from 234, and 285 holding Nvidia, up from 275, while short interest stayed low at about 0.6% of TSM's float and roughly 1.2% of Nvidia's.
